Lutness 4 Castaic Lake Water Agency

Vote November 2,2010 Welcome to my campaign website.  I am a Candidate for the Castaic Lake Water Agency, District 3, because I want the citizens of Santa Clarita to always have clean, abundant and affordable water.  I want to protect our environmental resources, preserve our quality of life and make sure there will always be ample reserves for Santa Clarita resident.

The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters has endorsed me.

“We endorse candidates that will officially represent our heartfelt commitment to a clean, healthy and bountiful environment. We feel that Carole Lutness is the person best able to uphold those values in her race, so we selected her to receive our endorsement.”  Anthony Rendon, President of the LALCV.

As a Master degreed Health Care Professional and 11 year resident of Santa Clarita Valley,  I know the importance of clean, healthy water. We face enormous challenges regarding water quality and availability.  Castaic Lake Water Agency (CLWA) allows current ratepayers to assume the cost of new development requiring us to import water from Northern California. The less water we import, the less salt we will have in our system.

CL
WA

·         has borrowed over $250,000,000 without a public vote

·        spends too much money on expensive consultants

·         has claimed that contaminated Ammonium Perchlorate water was “available for development”

·         has over-estimated water availability.

CLWA lacks adequate Board oversight to prevent these problems.

My PLEDGE:

ü  Enough water for our current residents

ü  Address the chloride salt problem without putting the burden on the taxpayers

ü  The Ammonium Perchlorate Treatment facility must be completed and delivering water approved by the Health Dept. before that water will be counted

ü  No borrowed money without a public vote

ü  CLWA will exercise restraint hiring consultants

ü  Accurate reporting of available water supply.

I will insist on open, honest, transparent and fiscally responsible water policy.  New development must not burden current residents.
